International Paper in Selma, Alabama was looking for a new sealing solution for the bearing housing of their Westinghouse AEHH Frame 324T Electric Motor. This NEMA electric motor was placed in a steamy place in the mill and had trouble with water entering the bearing housing and contaminating the grease lubrication, leading to early failures. The factory installed labyrinth isolators were allowing water to enter through it's leak path.
In 2012, the mill specified Isomag magnetic face bearing isolators to completely seal the bearing housings to increase the mean time between failures.
